Yearly Event Calendar 2009-2010 The Meadowood Neighborhood Association currently sponsors seven events each year. Here are our some examples of events we have done and continue to do each year. They are listed in the order they occur during the calendar year. We would love to have volunteers to bring new ideas and energies to these projects plus some NEW ones we would like to develop. If you have an idea for an event you would like to see sponsored, please contact us and let us know!
Santa Visits(Saturday, December 12, 2009) Santa and his elves make an appearance in early December in answer to letters neighborhood children write to him via a local "routing" address. Santa appears at each child's home in the neighborhood accompanied by an elf and a present.
Winter Bingo Party (Saturday, January 23, 2010) The Bingo Party is normally put on at the local Knights of Columbus hall in early November. Refreshments are served and prizes are awarded for game winners. Unlike many of our other events, the Bingo Party is for adults!
Vitense Golf Event (Saturday, March 6, 2010) Come join the fun! Free pizza, soda and 1 round of mini-golf for kids 12 and under at Vitense Golfland.
Neighborhood Garage Sale (Friday, May 14 & Saturday, May 15, 2010) Every year the neighborhood goes "on sale" in mid-May. The Association places an ad in the newspaper for participants and coordinates the event.
4th of July Picnic and Parade(Saturday, July 3, 2010) Our annual parade brings out many children and families from the neighborhood. We always have a "theme" so the children can dress up and decorate their bicycles and other transportation. Prizes for the best costumes and decorations are given for three age groups and group entries. ALL children get treats for participating. The parade route runs from the Good Shepherd parking lot, down Balsam to Leland, Leland to Thrush, Thrush to Iris Lane, and back to the Good Shepherd Church parking lot. It starts at 10:30 a.m. on each 4th of July. The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is located on the corner of Whitney Way and Raymond Road. Picnic: Each 4th of July afternoon, at 1:00 p.m., we hold a free picnic (to members) at Elver Park's old shelter. The picnic serves all you can eat potato salad, a meat/bbq dish, hotdogs, beans, chips, pickles, and soda. Door prizes are donated by area businesses. Guests are welcome to attend with area families for an entry fee of $1.00.
We are always looking for volunteers for these events. If you are interested in volunteering or have ideas on other events, please contact us.
